At todays retired uft meeting they were encouraging its member to vote yes on proposal 1; So I asked who in the UFT decides which candidate or proposal to support. No one would answer me. I was hoping things would change when a new action candidate won the most recent election for retired members after the Unity president tried to sell out health care to its members and lost. I did not get an answer.
A Modest Proposal is a satirical essay by Jonathan Swift that proposes that the Irish poor sell their children as food to wealthy English landlords.
It seems that Proposition One on the ballot has an overwhelming number of items including "Our Body Our Choice" (not about mandatory injections or children)
Also the state looks to control medical decisions about children, not parents. Their Body, Their Choice?
Why not have numerous proposals for each item?
One way to reject this hodge podge of items would be to vote NO, until each issue has its own Proposal.
