PRESS RELEASE: New Yorkers Go Back To Albany to Fight for Medical Freedom
Rallying with supportive lawmakers on both sides of the aisle
Albany, NY — On May 7, New Yorkers will return to the state Capitol in Albany to rally for Medical Freedom. This nonpartisan event will include speakers who are Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Independents and more. They will be bringing attention to bills that oppose medical freedom, as well as bills that support it.
Democratic Assemblywoman Jaime Wiliams from Brooklyn will be speaking at the rally about her bill A9196 to bring back all NYC workers who were fired for declining the COVID shot.
Republican Senator Alexis Weik will be speaking about bills she is sponsoring and cosponsoring, including a bill to bring back the religious exemption to vaccination as well as a bill that would end vaccine requirements to attend school in New York.
Currently there are many bills in Albany that would suppress medical freedom if they became law. Two of these bills in particular will be highlighted at the rally.
One is A6761, called the minor consent bill, which would allow minors to agree to any medical procedure without parental knowledge or consent. This would include surgery, vaccination, medication and more.
The other is S1531 which would create a mandatory adult vaccine database. This bill has already passed in the Assembly, meaning it now only has to pass the Senate to make it onto Governor Hochul’s desk to be signed into law.
Nearly 20 speakers will be speaking at the rally including the CEO of Children’s Health Defense Mary Holland, Dr. James Lyons Weiler, Civil Rights attorney Tricia Lindsay, police officer Cely Batista, retired firefighter Tom Lapolla, attorney Bobbie Anne Cox, Local 100 Union Activist Tramell Thompson, Rich Purtell of the Libertarian Party and many more.
“We are coming back to Albany in an election year to educate our elected officials on what We the People want and what we don’t want,” said Michael Kane, founder of Teachers for Choice and one of the rally organizers. “We the People don’t want medical authoritarianism; we want medical freedom, and I think the politicians are starting to understand this even here in New York.”
