Yes Michael, I agree with you. I had to look at the big picture and not allow others to use an in-discretionary utterance to cloud my judgement in helping them to remove Ms. Paladino from her job. This lady is a woman who uses common sense in making serious decisions. In fact, she did advocate on Common Sense matters in her support of the unvaccinated city workers. No one agrees with everything anyone does, but because I remembered that Ms. Paladino was in the minority of politicians who supported us and still does today, while others continue to persecute us, I respect her for her standards and principles in not going along with her colleagues just to get along. She knew she has to look herself in the mirror and make sure she loved the reflection of herself; otherwise, she knows how miserable her life could be.
In this ostracism, I believe these career city council members are singling out Ms. Paladino as a scapegoat, and trying to silence her, but thankfully, the judge saw right through this nonsense and allowed her to walk confidently with her belief values that she meant no harm. Stay strong!
I think her “controversial” comment warrants so serious consideration. Much of Islam, as practiced, is seriously out of line from Western—and certainly American—values.
I know many wonderful, spiritual, warm, godly Muslims and the idea that all Muslims should be removed from western nations is crazy to me. I believe Vickie misspoke, and meant to say "radical Muslims" or something to that nature. But once she was challenged so strongly she was never going to back down. The other stories were a reminder of what is happening to NY with the opening of the public grocery stores. So I assume heavily subsidized which will put the small stores out of business.
Why are so many health-freedom people also right-wing nutcases who wax eloquent about constitutional rights to bodily autonomy and then advocate abrogating the constitution for the current targets of the ruling class (cf. also the rabid support among health-freedom people for the US/israel genocide in Gaza)? Our position on this is clear, and predates Oct. 7: if you are a Zionist and you support medical freedom, you are our brother/sister - if you are a Palestinian refugee and you support medical freedom, you are our brother/sister. #2) I stated in this piece that I disagree with Vickie Paladino saying Muslim's should be expelled from western nations. But I will certainly fight for her right to say it and not be illegally removed from her elected office.

That's a complex question. Everyone has their blind spots - no political ideology has all of the answers but they all swear they do. It's hard for regular people to think for themselves on every single issue, so we fall into "group think" because we are busy paying the rent, taking care of the kids, trying to just get by. (and that really on scratches the surface of dealing with your question)
Councilmembers have the right to express their opinions! Is this the Soviet Union or something? Certain NYC Councilmembers think the whole council is required to think and act just like them, and they need to be educated on how democracy works.
