Only one week till the end of the legislative session in New York, and John Gilmore gives an update on where the bad vaccine bills currently sit.

The bill banning unvaccinated kids from summer camps is currently on Governor Hochul’s desk, but she has not signed it. Three other horrendous bills have not moved in the Senate:

• Hep-B mandate to attend college

• Mandatory adult vaccine database

I was extremely impressed with all he had to say!

(1) Fired Unvaxxed Workers

When it comes to fired unvaccinated workers Blakeman is all in, saying he would rehire all such workers just as he did in 2022 as county executive of Nassau County (Long Island). When he first came to hold office Blakeman issued an executive order to bring back anyone who lost their job with the county for refusing to get the Covid shot.

(2) Religious and medical exemptions to vaccination

Blakeman is clear he supports freedom of religion and the return of religious exemptions to vaccination for children to attend school in New York. He also says that the patient doctor relationship is sacred, and that government should not be interfering in that process. Governor Blakeman would get rid of the red tape that prevents medically fragile children from accessing the medical exemptions they need and deserve. I was able to introduce Blakeman to a young lady who had her religious exemption taken away in 2019, her parents were forced to be vaccinate her, she was injured by those shots, and then was denied a medical exemption from six separate doctors.

(3) Albany Democrats’ bill to ban unvaccinated kids from all summer camps

Blakeman stated a bill to ban unvaccinated children from camp sounds “un-American” and something that should not become law. He said it should be the choice of the summer camp owner whether vaccination should be required to attend or not.

Though not captured on the above video, during the fundraiser Blakeman stated that he is working with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. regarding regulations to properly label allergens in food ingredients. This sounded like work Blakeman is currently doing as a county executive. It is fantastic to see that even as a local politician Blakeman is already working hand-in-hand with Secretary Kennedy.

Just imagine what could happen with Blakeman as Governor of New York while Kennedy is HHS Secretary!

Today we held an amazing and impactful rally in the Bronx against four oppressive vaccine bills in front of Senator Gustavo Rivera’s office. The office was completely shutdown - clearly they knew we were coming.

It was good they knew we were headed their way, because by the time our rally ended John Gilmore found out there were no bad vaccine bills scheduled for this Tuesday’s health committee meeting. Rivera is the chair of that committee. This is the last scheduled Senate health committee meeting of the year. They could call an “emergency” meeting if they choose to; nevertheless this is a good sign worthy of some celebration.

For the rally Children’s Health Defense provided a digital truck that had messages including “Parents Call the Shots…My Body My Choice…No Forced Hep-B Shot for College” all in English and Spanish. The Spirit Drummers came out making the rally a party with rhythm, chanting, and dancing.

New York gubernatorial candidate Larry Sharpe showed up at the rally, which we all so greatly appreciated! We hope more candidates for Governor will begin to discuss critical medical freedom issues just like Larry is!

Action we must take now

Three of the four bad bills we rallied against are not moving; for now, hopefully they are now dead. We shall continue to monitor them.

But there is one bill that could still make it to Hochul’s desk…

Banning Unvaccinated Kids from Summer Camp

Now we need to keep up the pressure to stop S3958a, the bill that, for the first time, will mandate all shots required for school to attend all camps. Only one other state does this. The harder we fight this bill, the more we reduce the chance that the Senate will try and move any of the other awful vaccine bills, like mandatory hepatitis-b shots for college, the mandatory adult vaccine database, and eliminating the right to sue for injuries if New York starts requiring shots not approved by the federal government.

The Senate is rapidly running out of time. There still is no budget, which is 6 weeks late. The legislature is scheduled to adjourn on June 4 and currently leadership is saying there is no chance they will extend the session; largely because politicians need to get home and start campaigning for the elections. There is a huge backlog of bills and the members do not want to waste time on controversial bills that are not their priority.

The summer cam- ill was passed by the Senate Health Committee this past Tuesday. It was not sent to the Rules Committee as is customary, but sent directly to the Floor Calendar where it will await posting to the “Active List” of bills that will be voted on by the Senate as a whole. We want to keep it waiting.

If the bill is passed by the Senate and the Governor signs the bill before October of 2026 the law would take effect in October of 2026. If the Governor signs the bill after October of 2026 the law would take effect in October of 2027.

Today the Senate Health Committee passed bill S3958A to ban unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children from all summer camps. The bill has been referred to the Senate floor. The man responsible for this is Senator Gustavo Rivera who heads the Senate Health Committee.

So now we need to peacefully rally in front of his office

This is another authoritarian bill that undermines parental and religious rights for no discernible public health benefit.

On Wednesday April 29, in Staten Island, Rachel Maniscalco’s house caught fire abruptly with no warning. Rachel grabbed her youngest daughter - who was sleeping at the time - out of bed and ran out of the burning house with no shoes on. The damage to her home was substantial and the entire family is now living in a hotel room with their dog.

For those who don’t remember, Rachel has been fighting for medical freedom in New York since 2021 as a leader of the workers movement against vaccine mandates. On Instagram she is known as donotcomplynyc

Rachel quickly became a critical leader of our movement in the streets, at the courthouses, at city hall and in Albany. She has been fighting for all of us for years, now she needs help and we need to be there for her!

BLAST FROM THE PAST: You can watch footage from the Associated Press in August of 2021 where Rachel spoke against vaccine mandates in front of over 3,000 educators and workers at city hall. Her baby girl was just a few months old, strapped in a papoose on her belly while she spoke truth to power on that blazing hot summer day.

Things have not been easy for Rachel or her family over the past 5 years, but she never complained. Instead she used her platform to help other unvaccinated educators find jobs. She helped homeschooling families find coops and educators to help teach their kids. She looked out for others in our tribe, many desperately looking for even small opportunities to just survive one day at a time.

It has been hard for Rachel to find steady work for herself, but she has always found a way. She has struggled to maintain secure health insurance, and making ends meet has been a daily struggle for her and her husband. Nevertheless they are warriors and survivors and have managed to take care of their family the entire time. It has been hard for Rachel but she has always thanked God that it wasn’t worse, because she always knew it could be worse: we’ve seen just how bad it is for so many of our fellow brothers and sisters fired for refusing the Covid shot.

I have seen Rachel put money up on her own credit card to secure hotel rooms for fired unvaccinated workers who were homeless. Now, today, Rachel and her family are effectively homeless themselves. They need our help so please, give what you can.
